About the season
How the Champions League works this season
The league phase has 36 clubs in one table. Each club plays eight games, four at home and four away, between September and January. The top eight go straight to the round of 16. Clubs placed 9th to 24th play a two-legged knockout play-off in February, and the rest are out.
Games kick off at 18:45 and 21:00 Central European Time. That is 17:45 and 20:00 in the UK and 12:45 pm and 3:00 pm Eastern in the US.
Key dates
- League phase matchdays 7 and 8: 19 and 20 January, and 27 January 2027.
- Knockout play-offs: 16 and 17 February, then 23 and 24 February 2027.
- Round of 16: 9 and 10 March, then 16 and 17 March 2027.
- Quarter-finals: 6 and 7 April, then 13 and 14 April 2027.
- Semi-finals: 27 and 28 April, then 4 and 5 May 2027.
- Final: Saturday 5 June 2027 at the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid.
